Deal  Confidence: High
Octapharma, the Swiss maker of plasma-derived critical care medicines, just locked in its first-ever US factory: 1.5 billion dollars in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and about 1,500 jobs.
The deal nearly died in a weeks-long fight between York County and Rock Hill over splitting tax incentives before the city council approved it 7-0 on July 24. Production targets the mid-2030s.
Why it matters
A major foreign drugmaker is building its first US factory, adding domestic capacity for plasma-derived medicines used in trauma and critical care. Watch whether the mid-2030s timeline holds and how the local tax fight resolves.

Earnings  Confidence: High
Bristol Myers Squibb, the drugmaker behind Opdivo and Eliquis, beat Wall Street's second-quarter revenue estimate by more than a billion dollars and raised its full-year guidance for the second straight quarter.
Revenue hit 13 billion dollars, up 6%. The newer Growth Portfolio, including Opdivo Qvantig and Reblozyl, grew 15% and now makes up nearly 60% of total revenue as older drugs lose patent protection.
Why it matters
One of the largest US drugmakers is outgrowing patent losses on older products, a sign the broader branded-pharma sector's newer drug launches are gaining traction. Watch whether the Growth Portfolio keeps outpacing legacy drug declines.
