CVS Health beats and raises, stock falls on 2027 headwinds
Plus: Eli Lilly Q2 revenue hits $23B on Mounjaro, Zepbound growth. The day's rules, money, and enforcement, sourced and tiered below.
Record
CVS Health, the company behind Aetna and the CVS pharmacy chain, beat Wall Street on revenue and earnings this morning and raised its full-year guidance, and its stock fell more than 6 percent anyway.
Aetna's medical costs finally cooled, but executives flagged 2027 headwinds in a federal drug-discount program and expected membership losses at its pharmacy benefit manager. CVS also cut virtual weight-loss visits to $29 the same day.
Record
Eli Lilly, the drugmaker behind diabetes and weight-loss shots Mounjaro and Zepbound, posted 23 billion dollars in quarterly revenue, up 48 percent, and raised its full-year guidance for the second time this year.
Mounjaro alone brought in 9.9 billion dollars, up 91 percent. The results landed the same day CVS Health restored Lilly's weight-loss drugs to preferred insurance coverage, a win over rival Novo Nordisk.
