Sentynl Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Indian drugmaker Zydus Lifesciences, is paying up to 475 million dollars for U.S. rights to an experimental drug for a rare, currently untreatable lung disease.
Alvelestat targets Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency-Associated Lung Disease, an estimated 50,000 to 80,000 US patients. The drug hasn't finished Phase 3 trials yet. Mereo BioPharma keeps rest-of-world rights.
